Important Rules & Tips

Permit Timing. County permits generally become available two Fridays before the desired date at 5 pm HST.

Sleeping in vehicles is illegal in most public parks and streets. State parks don’t allow sleeping in parking lots, with very limited exceptions.

Alcohol & Pets. Generally prohibited in state and county campgrounds.

Safety. Remote sites (DOFAW) have no security or emergency services.
